Mill Pond Counseling · Norwell, MA

Working together toward your best self.

A strengths-based, solution-focused counseling practice — partnering with you on stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and the work of being human.

The metaphor

The analogy of a mill pond

Concentric ripples on a still pond

A mill pond is a body of water used as a power source for a mill. The pond converts its potential energy of the water into mechanical energy for the mill to do its work. This is an excellent analogy for the counseling process. Just as the mill pond is a repository of strength for the mill, your inner reserves and resiliency can empower you to face stress and challenges so that you can do your work. At Mill Pond Counseling, we believe in personal empowerment, inner strength, and compassionate collaboration with caring professionals to help you reach your best self. Let's work together to ensure your mill pond is always full.

Our approach

Strengths-Based & Solution-Focused

At MPC, we practice a strengths-based and solution-focused form of counseling. Strengths-based counseling seeks to empower the individual to build on the resilience they already have.

Solution-focused approaches are rooted in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and take a present-day look at real-world challenges. Together, these approaches help create new and lasting ways to cope with stress, depression, anxiety, and trauma.

With Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), the therapist partners with the client to define and achieve goals that are meaningful and produce lasting benefits — laying the foundation for a solution-focused mindset for challenges that arise in the future.

Partnership model

Therapist and client define meaningful goals together.

CBT-rooted

Present-day, practical tools for real-world challenges.

Resilience first

Build on the coping you already have, then extend it.

Lasting mindset

A foundation for solving challenges that haven't arrived yet.
